The Museum of River Navigation, set in a complex territorial context that includes the waterways and the historic center of Battaglia Terme, plays a role that goes beyond preserving the memory of the barcari.
The Museum promotes the enhancement of historical infrastructures related to navigation, such as the ancient mill and the navigation lock, including in its narrative to the territory of the Euganean Hills, rich in landscapes, historic villas, parks, thermal realities and cultural and environmental testimonies of great value.
The enhancement of the Euganean Hills area aims to protect a unique heritage, born from the intertwining of nature, history and traditions, through the rediscovery of ancient communication routes, water-related activities and local traditions.
This process promotes sustainable development, involving local communities and offering visitors an authentic and conscious experience.
With this in mind, the Museum of River Navigation is configured as a diffuse museum, capable of extending collections and narratives to the territory, transforming landscape, historic buildings and traditions into stages of a shared cultural journey.
Fundamental are the collaborations with cultural and tourist realities, including the MUCE - Museum of the Euganean Hills, Villa Emo Selvatico, the Catajo, and associations engaged in the enhancement of inland navigation.
