Behind Battaglia Terme are the Euganean Hills, where it is still possible to observe the open-pit quarry where gray trachyte was mined and transported by barcari all the way to Venice.
Currently, the Hills are protected by the Euganean Hills Park Authority: established in 1989, the park encompasses a large territory including fifteen municipalities. In addition to scenic beauty, the park contains a number of archaeological and cultural sites, such as villages, medieval fortifications, Venetian villas, gardens and hermitages. A variety of trails crisscross the hills, with many hikes to choose from.
Today, rediscovering its geographic, historical and cultural identity, Battaglia serves as a gateway to the Euganean Hills Park, enhancing its rich heritage of natural and artistic beauty, many of which are of great uniqueness.
